5 goalkeepers who could replace David De Gea at Manchester United

  1. Alban Lafont (AC Fiorentina):

Lafont is a tall young goalkeeper, currently playing for Fioretina in the Serie A. He started out with Toulouse in the Ligue 1 where he made a French record by becoming a first choice goalie at the age of just 15. At Fiorentina, he has done well with the opportunities he has got and with his shot-stopping abilities and confidence in possession, he could turn out to be a very good option for Manchester United should De Gea leave.

  1. Alex Meret (SSC Napoli):

Italy continues to produce some of the best goalkeepers and as we have seen with Gianluigi Donnarumma, Meret is one more interesting prospect in the Serie A. Currently at Napoli, Meret was signed from Udinese. He was heavily linked to a number of Italian clubs to make good use of his sharp reflexes, agility and quickness in getting off the line. Meret can be nurtured and developed into a top goalkeeper if United plan to sign him to replace De Gea.

  1. Gigi Donnarumma (AC Milan):

Donnarumma was heavily linked to some of the top clubs in the world but he decided to stay put. Since then his performances haven’t been as great as they were before but nevertheless the Italian is developing surely. He has a great command between the sticks, is very quick to get off his line and has the ability to make some stunning saves. United should go all in for him if De Gea plans to leave the Red Devils.

  1. Jordan Pickford (Everton):

Pickford had a stellar time with the Three Lions in Russia this year. He was very impressive in the World Cup with his sharp shot-stopping and ability to pass the ball and help keep the flow of the game continued. He still has a long way to go before he can be called as a great goalkeeper but he sure has the talent to become that. Given he has already played in the Premier league, United would be more tempted to go for him than the other talented options available.

  1. Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid):

Among all the famous goalkeepers right now, Oblak has to be considered massively underrated. He has been consistently been brilliant for Atletico Madrid between the sticks. His shot-stopping abilities are amazing, he can pass and create the game from his kicks and throws and he has an excellent command of the defence line. He is the perfect replacement for De Gea at United and the English club shouldn’t shy away from any opportunity to sign Oblak.
