Alex Sanchez has had a rough start to his Manchester United career and has now admitted to being mentally and physically exhausted.
Sanchez posted a photo to his Spanish Instagram that showed him with a huge grin as he trained with Chile in Stockholm ahead of a friendly match with Sweden on Saturday.
Underneath the photo it read: “I know you are tired. I know you are psychologically and emotionally exhausted. But you have to smile and continue.”
The United forward told the Chilean media on Thursday: “The change of club was something that was very abrupt – it was the first time I’ve changed clubs in January – but many things have happened in my life that are difficult.”
He added: “As I am self-demanding, I expected something better. After my arrival at United, it was hard to change everything very quickly. I even hesitated to come here [to Sweden].”
The attacker who is currently on international duty with Chile, joined United from Arsenal in the January transfer window for a reported salary of £500,000 a week and became the top paid player in the Premier League history.
But along with the big price tag came big expectations and having scored only one goal in ten appearances, which happened to be rebound following an unsuccessful penalty against Huddersfield, Sanchez hasn’t put in the level of performance that was expected.
Sanchez is currently in Stockholm where Chile take on Sweden at the Friends Arena on Saturday before facing Denmark on Tuesday. He initially requested to stay behind to address his problems at United but goalkeeper Claudio Brave convinced him to join up with the national team.
United boss Jose Mourinho is also facing a serious battle to revitalise his other star signing Paul Pogba amid growing concerns about his state of mind also.
