United End US Tour With 1-0 Defeat To Barca

Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the United States has ended on a defeat, as they went down 1-0 to La Liga giants Barcelona at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland, on Wednesday. The loss could have been by a bigger margin if it wasn’t for Utd’s Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea, who kept out a number of goals in the first half by Barca’s big three Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi. United had started brightly with Rashford and Lingard causing plenty of problems. Romelu Lukaku tested Barcelona keeper Jasper Cillessen…

Pochettino’s Slanging Match As Spurs Go Down 3-2 To Roma

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino got himself into a slanging match with officials, as his side crashed to a 3-2 defeat against Roma, in the International Champions Cup (ICC) match at New Jersey’s Red Bull Arena on Tuesday. Pochettino was angered by a number of decisions made by Hilario Grajeda including turning down a Harry Kane penalty appeal and with no VAR employed for the ICC games, Pochettino confronted the fourth official who wanted the manager sent off. But Pochettino refused to go the stands and remained in the dugout…

Mourinho Tips Martial For Best Season Yet

After the latest friendly that involved two of the most valuable football teams in the world, in which Manchester United defeated Real Madrid 2-1 in penalty kicks, Jose Mourinho tipped Anthony Martial to have his best season yet. The France international joined Utd back in 2015 for an initial £36m, the highest fee paid for a teenager in football history and after scoring in his first match, was named The Premier League Player of the Month. Yet ever since then the 21-year-old has struggled to justify his price tag. After…

Footballers who could either join Real Madrid or FC Barcelona

5) Marco Verratti  Verratti is easily the hottest property in the European transfer market at the moment. The diminutive Italian has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world since joining PSG from Pescara in 2012. Verratti’s ability to control the midfield is something Barca dearly need, with the Catalans suffering massively due to Rakitic’s loss of form and Gomes’ inconsistency. While it is difficult to think where Verratti would play in Real Madrid’s midfield with Kroos, Modric and Casemiro forging a strong partnership, Verratti is the…

Lukaku & Rashford Score In Manchester Derby

Manchester United’s new signing Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford, gave the Red Devils a 2-0 victory in their pre-season friendly against Manchester City in Houston, Texas on Thursday. It was the first time the Manchester Derby had been played on foreign soil after the first attempt at an overseas derby, last year in China, was cancelled due to heavy rain. Jose Mourinho’s side looked the sharpest of the two, in their third pre-season game at the near capacity NRG Stadium. Lukaku netted his second pre-season goal in the 37th minute….

Footballers who did not shine under Jose Mourinho

12) Kevin De Bruyne Perhaps the biggest disappointment of Chelsea fans in recent seasons has been the rise of De Bruyne. The impressive Belgian returned to Chelsea after a fine season with Bremen in the Bundesliga. De Bruyne started three of the opening five games during Mourinho’s return to Chelsea; however, soon vanished from the first team. A couple of appearances in the League Cup followed before De Bruyne left for Wolfsburg. Since his move away from Chelsea, De Bruyne has evolved into one of the best-attacking midfielders. He joined…

Antonio Conte Signs Improved Deal With Chelsea

As Chelsea jetted off to their pre-season tour of the Far East Tuesday evening, it was announced that club manager Antonio Conte signed an improved two-year deal at Stamford Bridge. The deal believed to be worth £19.2 million does not include an extension to his initial three-year contract, signed on his arrival in west London in the summer of 2016. The Italian indicated in May that he was looking to extend his contract for many years, but his frustrations over transfer plans and Chelsea’s hierarchy had prevented him from putting…
