Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero has suffered two broken ribs after being involved in a horror crash in Holland Thursday night.
The Argentine striker who was taking advantage of day off to attend a concert by Colombian singer/songwriter Maluma in Amsterdam.
After the performance Sergio got into a Crysler PT Cruiser taxi and was heading back to the airport to catch a flight to Manchester. But the taxi careered head on into a post close to a pedestrian crossing. The airbags were deployed and luckily the 29-year-old was wearing a seatbelt that saved him.
Two people were taken to hospital including Sergio who is understood to have undergone hospital treatment and is due to fly back to Manchester Friday morning where he will be assessed by City’s doctors.
City confirmed the news in an official club statement, which read: “Sergio Aguero will be assessed by Club doctors today after being involved in a road accident on Thursday.
“The City forward was in Holland on his day off and has sustained injuries.
“He will return to Manchester this morning and his status will be checked ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League clash at Chelsea.”
The incident couldn’t of happened at a worse time for City boss Pep Guardiola, with just 48 hours before City’s biggest match of the season, away to champions Chelsea on Saturday evening, a match that pits the current Premier League leaders against the reigning champions.
The inform Argentine has had a great start to the season, scoring seven goals in eight matches for City and the prospect of him being sidelined for six weeks would be disastrous for Guardiola.
This week it was reported £52million summer signing Benjamin Mendy is potentially ruled out for the rest of the season after he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
