Neymar Flies Back To Spain Ahead Of Barca Departure

Neymar is heading back to Spain ahead of his expected Barcelona departure and world record £199 million move to Paris St Germain.

After fulfilling promotional commitments in Shanghai, China, the 25 year old stopped off in Dubai where he was spotting dining with friends on Tuesday, before boarding a flight to the United Arab Emirates.

Some reports then claimed that from there he would undergo a medical with the French giants’ doctors in Doha, while others report claimed he would undergo the medical in Paris.

But during Tuesday afternoon, the player sprung a surprise by dropping the Spain flag and an aeroplane into a photo that he posted to social media.

Neymar cost Barcelona £48m when they signed him in the summer of 2013 and is signed to the club until 2021 with 222 million release clause. An ambitious PSG appear to be prepared to  activate the clause.

The Brazilian’s relationship with Barca has been strained of late after Barca coach Ernesto Valverde sent Neymar to the showers last week, after being caught scrapping with his team mate Nelson Semedo. The pair have since put the bust-up behind them.

But other teammates apparently believe his antics during the US tour and the ongoing speculation has damaged the image of the club in the US.

And then in what appears to be a bit of a ‘soap opera’ of sorts, Barca withheld £23 million due to be paid to Neymar’s father Ney Sr if he stays on with the club, the payment being for his part in securing his son’s contract renewal last October.

But the club claimed at the beginning of the week, they had deposited the money with a lawyer in the city and that it would only be released to Ney Snr if Neymar stayed at the club.

Neymar is expected back at training with the Catalan club on Wednesday.
