As Harry Kane returns to training at Tottenham, manager Mauricio Pochettino has said he is ‘very confident’ the striker will play against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
Kane sustained a hamstring injury during Spur’s 4-1 win over Liverpool and has since missed two matches, last week’s 3-2 defeat by West Ham in the Carabao Cup and Saturday’s Premier League match against Manchester United in which once again Spurs were defeated.1-0.
Pochettino said on Tuesday: “We are very confident. He is on the list, we have one day more to assess him.
“I think maybe it can be possible he will be available to play tomorrow, but I don’t want to be 100 percent sure about that decision, because we have one day more.
“Today and yesterday were good in training. Now with the medical staff, we will try to make the right decision, because it is important to make the right decision for tomorrow.”
The 24 year-old who has scored 13 goals in 12 games for Spurs this season, has made a swift recovery but will still need to be assessed ahead of the Champions League Group H match at Wembley.
Victor Wanyama was also back in training alongside Erik Lamela hopefully proving the latter is not long from his return to competitive football after being absent for a year, Mousa Dembele also took part.
Dele Alli will be available after the England international served a three-match European suspension after being sent off against Gent in the Europa League last season.
Gareth Bale will not be facing his former club after Zinedine Zidane left him out of the Real squad.
The hosts are currently sat at the top of Champions League Group, above defending champions Real on goal difference having both won and drawn one of their matches. Both sides are six points clear of Borussia Dortmund and Apoel Nicosia.
